Selectors S03 E05 ✦ Andrés (Mahogani Music)

 Keeping it on with the third seaon of Selectors,

the royal series the imports

all the big shot selectors around the globe,

that'll come for the romano's saloon

to show off their extensive variety of vinyles

that they have found rumbling around the world

with an all-night, stanard breaking party.

For the fifth episode this season,

a true legend of Detroit - Andrés (Mahogani Music). 

 

With a strong love for the black wax,

that started down the line

in the years of his youth,

Andrés (DJ Dez) climbed to the top thanks to that same love.

Along with his long-time friend, J.Dilla,

they embarked in a journey into musical exploration,

that in the coming years changed their environment,

and not long after, the enitre world,

a journey that started with the legendery Slum Village,

that built the road for them to become musical master minds.

 

In the late 90's, 

Andrés finds himself neck deep in the Excavations 

of local Detroit house,

and with his good friend, Moodymann,

they realesed a series of local beats albums,

packed with distinct character and groove,

that rooted them in the global consciousness,

and further established Detroit as a global capital

for black culture and music.

 

With all of this history,

rumbling and clear emotional connection that Andrés has,

he will drop by the Romano

for an evening full oh hip-hop and groovy house,

with not only a smashing set,

but one that acts as sort of audio autobiography 

of a master-teacher.
