A little history moment - Ballroom culture is a queer subculture that began in 1960's Harlem, New York, led by Black and Latinx trans women as a response to racism and exclusion in other LGBTQ+ spaces
It offers a safer space for queer people to celebrate identity and visibility, with zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, or.. harassment. Participants compete in categories that highlight self-expression, community, and love
